Employment law establishes regulations for the relationship between an employer and workers. Also referred to as labor law, these laws establish the rights of the employer and the employee. Our employment law attorneys will make sure you are in compliance with the federal regulations established by the Department of Labor, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

LABOR LAWSUITS
Perceived violation of labor laws can result in labor lawsuits. One of the most common labor lawsuits is discrimination, which protects the employee from being treated differently based solely on his or her race, sex, nationality, religion, sexual preference, age or disability. Harassment is another offense that includes any of the protected classes above, as well as offensive jokes, threats or other actions that can create a hostile work environment.

WRONGFUL TERMINATION
This area of employment law deals with violations of the implied or expressed contract regulations between the employee and employer. Arkansas is an “Employment at Will” state, which means either the employee or employer can terminate the relationship without cause, however there are provisions, such as disciplinary procedures outlined in company policy.
